This open-world – or rather, open-worlds – action game features a level of gunbattles and broken promises befitting the legend that is Chewbacca’s best mate.
The cursor on menus and in games is responsive and quick, plus games like Cyberpunk 2077 offer a multitude of options for deadzones and cursor speed. Most people won’t find their hand can fully relax on top of a rigid Joy-Con 2 without room for the rest of their fingers. Rematch proves that switching to more of an action game perspective can really work for a football game. The controls will take a little bit of getting used to, but the game really captures that feeling of playing a small-sided football match in real life. While Square Enix has already announced that Final Fantasy 7 Remake is coming to the Switch 2 their only launch game is this considerably lower profile remaster. To be clear, these last few games we didn’t chase up for review copies, because we knew they’d be low priority, and we didn’t have time to look properly at them.
The Switch 2 Looks Better And Plays Better
The Switch 2’s Joy-Con 2 controllers simply feel like larger versions of the original ones on the first-gen Switch. Nintendo’s new console is thin and light, and if you don’t like the feel of it digging into your palms, you need to consider other accessories that add more grip. The Switch 2 is a device that lends itself to handing off a controller for quick and dirty multiplayer, exemplified by Nintendo’s premier first-party title, Mario Kart World, which was the perfect launch game. We’ve played more than a dozen hours in the game with various groups of friends—all of whom were jonesing to try the ultra-hyped handheld—and they all left with smiles on their faces. The Switch 2 is running a custom Nvidia chip, and it’s ostensibly as powerful as some of Nvidia’s lower-end Ampere-era GPUs from four years ago—or about equivalent in power to consoles from the PS4 era.

And speaking of the new magnetic attachment system—the SL and SR buttons tucked inside of each Joy-Con 2 are now larger, clickier, and made of metal. Additionally, while the U-shaped kickstand on the Switch 2 doesn’t span the entire length of the backside like it does on the Switch OLED, it’s at least not the flimsy gumstick-sized one on the original Switch. We’re also glad to see the 3.5mm headphone jack didn’t get removed, and it’s nice to have a second USB-C port on the top of the device for charging or connecting accessories, along with the one located on the bottom. The built-in speakers are also audibly louder and fuller, producing clearer sound at higher volume levels compared to the crackling tinniness you got on the original Switch. This also all applies to handheld mode, but everything looks a little blurrier for some reason, especially when boosting, making it the less ideal option compared to playing the game on the TV while docked.
The Best Games Of 2025 (so Far)
You take control of just one player in a series of short, competitive and small-side matches, with other online gamers filling out the rest of the squad. It’s stacked full of options, including a story mode, the chance to play both games individually, and the all-important crossover mode. This mixes the rules from both games and since they’re similar enough it works pretty well, as your screen becomes filled with tetriminos and… whatever Puyos are supposed to be. The first two chapters of the follow-up to Undertale had been released before the Switch 2 launch but the third and fourth (out of a total of seven) were kept back until now – although they’re also now available on PlayStation and PC. The NES style graphics don’t look like much and, to be honest, the role-playing battles do get repetitive, but the storytelling is just as engaging and subversive as Undertale. The Switch 1 version of Sonic X Shadow Generations is undeniably the worst one, if only for its locked frame rate of 30fps.
